Mother’s Day Tulip Bouquet

I hope everyone is enjoying this fine Mother’s Day weekend. The weather was beautiful here today. I started out the day with a lovely Mother’s Day breakfast with my daughter, sister, and mother,  followed that up with a brief shopping spree, then ended the day with a joint painting session with my daughter. We convinced my mother to join in on the fun, and she painted her first watercolor painting. I’ll be posting copies of their paintings next. Tonight I’m giving myself top billing since today is my special day. This was another lesson featured in Fiona Peart’s book, “Tulips in Watercolor.” Watercolors on hot pressed Acquarello Artistico paper by Fabriano.

Watercolor Calla Lilies

Watercolors, micron pen, and acrylic ink on cold pressed Canson Aquarelle/Acuarela paper. Another painting my daughter finished during our joint painting session this week. How amazing is she? I just love this. I’ll be posting one of my paintings tomorrow. For step-by-step instructions on completing this project pick up a copy of the book, “Botanical Flowers in Watercolor” by Michael Lakin.

Watercolor Tulips

My daughter and I are really enjoying our joint painting sessions. Here’s a peek at her latest painting–a project she picked out of my new  book “Tulips in Watercolor” by Fiona Peart. She was experimenting with a much looser style today. It was a speedy painting; it took her less than an hour to complete but the results are stunning. Okay, I may be a bit biased. Yorkie Antics

I turned around after loading the dishwasher this afternoon and found my Yorkie, Steve, watching me from his perch on the kitchen table.  I guess he wanted to get a better view. Ah, the trials and tribulations of owning a Yorkie. They are delightful little troublemakers. Before I shooed him off the table, I grabbed my camera and snapped a few shots for posterity.

Come On, Everyone, Let’s Do the Tangerine Tango!

I’ve introduced you to Tangerine Tango, Pantone’s 2012 color of the year, I’ve highlighted previous colors of the year, and I’ve shown you how you can replicate this color at your favorite paint store. Now, let’s get down to some serious business. Seriously fun, that is. I’ve begun to assemble some items that I plan to feature in various rooms of my house as I dance around with this color and splash it from room to room. Here’s a sneak preview of some of the items that I’ll be featuring on my Tangerine Tango tour. Over the coming weeks I’ll provide you with photos of the completed rooms as well as purchasing information. I’m going to be quite busy; and I’ve definitely got some painting to do!
